Generalised array manifold model for wireless communication channels with local scattering

چکیده
The authors propose the use of a generalised array manifold for parameterised spatial signature estimation in wireless communication channels with local scattering. The array manihld commonly used for point sources is generalised to include linear combinations of the nominal array response vectors and their derivatives. The motivation behind this idea I S to obtain better estimates of the spatial signatures for direction of arrival (DOA) based signal waveform estimation. The estimators proposed exploit the orthogonality between the so-called noise and signal subspaces, leading to a separable solution for the derivative coefficients. As a result, a search is required for the DOAs only. For uniform linear arrays, the spatial signatures are shown to be approximately Vandermonde vectors with damped modes, and a closed-form estimator such as ESPRIT may be used in this case. Simulation examples are included to compare the signal estimation performance obtained using the proposed generalised manifold and the conventional array manifold.

A generalized array manifold model for local scattering in wireless communications
In wireless communication scenarios, local scatterers in the vicinity of the mobile sources cause angular spreading. As a result, the spatial signatures will not belong to the conventional array manifold parameterized by direction of arrival (DOA) alone. In this paper, a parameterized model for spatial signatures applicable in scenarios with local scattering is presented. Several algorithms tha...
متن کاملSecure Communication in Shotgun Cellular Systems
In this paper, we analyze the secure connectivity in Shotgun cellular systems (SCS: Wireless communication systems with randomly placed base stations) by Poisson intrinsically secure communication graph (IS-graph), i.e., a random graph which describes the connections that are secure over a network. For a base-station in SCS, a degree of secure connections is determined over two channel models: ...

In this chapter we present a realistic new model for wireless multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) channels which is more general than previous models. A novel spatial decomposition of the channel is developed to provide insights into the spatial aspects of multiple antenna communication systems. By exploiting the underlying physics of free-space wave propagation we characterize the fundamental...

In this paper filter based nonisotropic fading channel model for evaluating mobile radio communication is been proposed, fading occurs due to the multipath propagation of the signal. For assessing the performance and characteristics of a wireless communication system the channel has to be modelled in laboratory settings, the channel model can be hardware or software based. The development of th...

From practical and theoretical viewpoints, performance analysis of communication systems by using information-theoretic results is important. In this paper, based on our previous work on Multiple Access Channel (MAC) and Multiple Access Relay Channel (MARC), we analyze the impact of a relay on the fundamental wireless communications concept, i.e., coverage region of MARC, as a basic model for u...
